Zentangle® Dingbatz with Brian Crimmins, CZT

When: June 6, 2 - 4 EDT
Cost: $40
Live and Recorded class on Zoom.

Dingbats (with an “s”) have been used for centuries in typography to decorate book covers, to separate sections in a book or other document, to create visual interest, to frame text or large initials, to draw attention to a particular passage or quote, and much more. Dingbatz (with a “z”) are used in a similar way, and with great versatility. They’re fun to draw using familiar Zentangle techniques, and they can add a little magic to just about any surface.

In this class you will:
  • Understand the anatomy of Dingbatz that will support you in drawing balanced designs both in placement and in texture.

  • Learn how to draw Dingbatz using classic Zentangle skills as a foundation. This includes suggestions on the types of tangles that play well with others to make your Dingbatz as delicious as possible.

  • Be inspired by a wide variety of examples that illustrate how Dingbatz can be used to create special touches to almost any surface.
Supply List:
The supplies are very simple, just your basic Zentangle® supplies including black and brown Micron pens, pencil, 3 1/2" squares of art paper, sketch book and the book Zentangle Dingbatz by Brian Crimmins, CZT.

Who can attend? Everyone! This class is open to all artists! A basic understanding of the Zentangle® method is recommended.

Scribble to Structure
with Sandra Duran Wilson

When: June 26 & 27
Cost: $119
Live and Recorded class on Zoom.

Scribble to StructureA playful approach to experience color, composition, and acrylic mediums.
I love teaching this class because I always have an aha moment. What a thrill it is to be surprised time and again and I think that is a testament to the joys of learning with playful abandon.
Have you become bored with traditional color theory classes?
Would you rather go off grid and discover your own compositions?
Would you love to learn what all those acrylic gels and pastes are for?
When you approach color and composition with the mindset of a playful child you will discover new processes that your inner adult critic wouldn’t let you try. The happy accidents as I like to call them will bring a smile to your face. Yet, you will gain technical expertise in color theory, opacity, transparency, composition, and unique ways to put it all together, along with finishing and framing tips.
Join us as Sandra unveils the secrets to these wonderful mixed media pieces. June 26 & 27, 2-5 EDT. Purchase also includes access to the live recording, handouts and resources.

In this class you will:
  • Learn mark-making- it’s a fancy term for scribbling.
  • Discover repurposed materials that make the best tools for moving your paint.
  • Optical color mixing-this is my favorite way to create vibrant colors.
  • Veiling-the push and pull of successful layering.
  • Collage-the best way to explore composition.
  • Where and how to add the zinger of color or graphic to make your painting sing.
You begin with playful abandon and the end results are sophisticated finished pieces of art.

Who can attend? Everyone! This class is open to all artists!
