Do you have an iPad? Would you love to learn how to create spectacular Zentangle Inspired Art using a stylus? Are you simply curious about what digital tangling is? If so, then this class is for you!
In this information-packed class, we will cover the tools and process of digital tangling. You will learn how to use the Procreate app on the iPad, covering topics such as layers, various brushes, textures, and images. We will then apply those skills to the Zentangle process. You will learn special techniques for planning your tangles, how to 'Hollibaugh' tangles, and create depth and shading with your tangling. If time allows, we will also walk through the process of painting Zen Gems!
Students will be given handouts which will show all of these techniques in detail.
(You can attend "just to learn" without an iPad, but for an interactive, hands-on learning experience, please bring a fully charged iPad with a compatible stylus. Download the Procreate app before class!)

Marvelous Mandalas
Thursday 9 - 4
$180 includes materials and luncheon

Sandra Phillips
Mandala's are captivating and intricate drawings that seem difficult to create. In this class participants will deconstruct the parts of the mandala and learn the steps to creating one of a kind mandalas. We will break down creating a mandala in to steps - similar to the step outs we use for creating complicated tangles! Once mandalas are broken down into their parts you can create infinite designs. Starting with "centers" you will create an anthology of center options. Then moving onto "borders" we will develop multiple options. Combine borders and centers or use them individually - the combinations are limitless.

Using these steps even beginners can create complicated mandalas. Taught in a step out format, participants will be ready to take the lessons back to their students. Each student will receive a lesson plan for use with their students.
Please bring your basic Zentangle® supplies including .01 and .03 black Sakura Microns, and Tortillion. All other supplies are provided.

Reeds and Weeds
Saturday 6:30 - 9:30
$85 - Includes tons of materials!

Sharla Hicks
CZTs and tanglers have many pen colors in our tangle boxes and often are stumped on how to use them effectively together. Learning how different ink properties interact on different colors and values of tile and paper choices is the foundation to effectively using color pens in your work. What is the role of color theory in tangling and how can it aide and enhance your works. A PowerPoint presentation will introduce how color and value are the major payers for wise pen choices.

Reeds and Weeds will teach:
  • Color theory foundation needed to effectively use 3 - 5 different color pens together.
  • Learn a free-style form of tangling that does not require a string.
  • Learn how enhancers are your tools to effectively add drama and excitement to any tangle.
  • Learn how working in a series is a fundamental tool for developing your own style in tangling.
  • Shading is the drama queen of tangling. Learn alternate shading techniques using gel pens as watercolor tools for shading.

Each of these skills are techniques that can be incorporated into any tangling class and are great for beyond the basics classes.
